I've installed a few American Standard faucets, and I haven't been impressed by all of them. This model, though, is a good one. It has a different aesthetic than any other faucet that I own (which I like), and it has a solid build. It's really quite striking in person. Plus, I'm a fan of their Speed Connect drain design. It really is a beautiful faucet. The chrome is nicely done, and it's easy to clean. That's good, btw, because the location of the handle will cause your wet hand(s) to drip on to the faucet. Unless you're diligent about wiping it down afterwards, you'll get spots. So, it's nice that it's easy to clean. If you have a three-hole faucet like me, you can order the optional escutcheon, or (like me) you can get color coordinated plugs for the holes. I ordered PVC hole plugs for both my bathroom and kitchen sinks from Amazon, and I've been really happy with them. You don't feel the heft once it's installed, but the robustness is obvious when you pull it out of the box.Installing a bathroom faucet is a bit more work than a kitchen faucet because you also need to swap out the drain plug. It takes a little more time, but it really isn't that difficult for the average person (which I like to think that I am). It's a nice faucet. Great look, great finish, and solid build. You can buy faucets for as little as $45-55, but they’re junk, made largely of plastic and sheet metal. Then there are the units in the $80-120 range. They’re better than junk, but they don’t really last (as I discovered the first time I replaced a bathroom faucet in my then new house) and they look cheap. Often they’re not easily repairable. If you’re buying for your own house, and you plan on living there for more than a year or two, it’s really worth spending $200 or more to get a solid, cast brass faucet with heavy nickel or chrome plating- like this one. It has a feeling of solidity and heft. Even the valve lever has some real mass to it, and feels like a solid piece of metal when you move it.It’s nearly all cast brass, with just a few molded plastic pieces- the aerator and the stopper mechanism. I’m a bit concerned about plastic in a si k fixture, but given that this is an American Standard piece, I think it’s safe to say that replacement parts will be available for years to come. Mine is going into my downstairs bath, where it’ll be replacing a significantly less expensive unit I bought when I was a new homeowner and didn’t know any better. The one piece not included with this faucet that I need is a bezel plate to cover the holes used by the old 3-hole faucet. If I can’t find a suitable bezel, my plumbing supply house tells me I can get chrome plugs that will fill the holes.I received the American Standard 7106101.002 Patience Single Hole Bathroom Faucet, Polished Chrome. It is just a beautiful looking faucet and seems to be a very high quality for this brand. The faucet was a fairly easy install and it works wonderfully too. It has really upgraded the look of my tiny guest house bathroom and I like it so well that I am thinking of buying 2 more for the sinks in our Master bedroom too. This faucet is for the 1 hole sinks and it does not come with a 4" Hole Escutcheon or Hole Cover Deck Plate. I have all 3 hole sinks in my home and guest house, so I ordered several different brands of chrome plates to find out which would work best. You could order one from American Standard, but I felt that the price was quite high for such a simple item. The photos show the model of plate I ended up using with this beautiful faucet. The plate I chose looks nice and is strong enough for this faucet as it has a hard rubber support under it instead of the squishy foam that allows some of the plates to bend with a heavy faucet installed!Do a search on Amazon for ASIN#: B005GYJMUO to find the same plate as I am using. It does come in other finishes too.I am really super pleased with this faucet and it looks awesome on a pedestal sink. My friends that have seen it have lavished compliments on it too.Arrived in no time in usual Amazon fashion. I am in the process of remodeling two of our bathrooms and this faucet style matches perfectly with one of the vanities I installed with one exception. I had already purchased a new sink which had three holes. Unfortunately this faucet did not come with a plate to cover extra holes. I was able to find one at a local hardware store which works okay but a critical eye can tell it is not the same quality as the faucet. I am shopping for one that more closely matches but my wife was not being patient so I had to make do in the mean time. This really is a finely made faucet with no blemishes that I could find. Only not including a matching base plate in case it was needed made it less than a perfect product and installation experience. I would recommend it as long as you have not already committed to a vanity/sink with more than a single hole.
